Storage of hazardous substances with collection tanks

They protect the aquifers in case of accidental spills of dangerous and polluting substances. This secondary containment system is able to prevent and reduce potentially polluting situations. The collection tank must have a volume, for national regulatory purposes: of minimum capacity equal to the largest of the containers stored and not less than 1/3 of the total volume stored. If the storage of substances is located in an area of ??protection of the water table, all the stored volume must be able to be contained in the collection tank (100%).

COMPATIBILITY AND CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS

The materials of which the containment tank is made must be compatible with the products that will be stored. For the storage of the main chemical products, steel containment tanks (Fe360) can be used. In the case of corrosive products or substances, such as acids / bases for example, specific tanks made of polyethylene must be used. If there are no particular indications in the resistance tables, the material of the tanks can be the same as the substance storage container.
